TEMPEST STORM THOMAS
Tempest "Storm" Thomas is an Artist-Entrepreneur, award winning bassist, singer-songwriter, and music educator for beginner bass and vocal students. She is the visionary and CEO of Storm Nation Enterprises, LLC and she has an extensive background in live performance and serves as a professional musician/singer for the past 16 years. She plays a variety of music genres including R&B, Gospel, Funk, Neo-Soul, Go-Go, Smooth Jazz and more.
Storm is a DMV native and she started playing bass and singing in church with her dad in their family gospel quartet group. During her adolescent years, she took music lessons and learned to play multiple instruments including flute, violin and piano and she received numerous awards for her musical achievements with the school orchestra. At the age of 9, her dad recognized her superior musical ability and taught her to play bass for his gospel quartet group.
Storm decided to continue her music passion in adulthood and she is a force to be reckoned with in the music community. She has shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Erykah Badu, Ginuwine, Ceelo Green, Dougie Fresh, MC Lyte, Bela Dona and many more. She released her first single "Love Triangle" back in 2018 and this song was written to inspire women to overcome relationship challenges. Storm is the recipient of several notable honors for her longstanding career as a professional musician. She is the recipient of Be There Magazine's "Bassist of The Year" Award (2018). In 2020, she was honored to receive DC Mayor Muriel Bower's Women of Excellence Award and the Best Grown and Sexy Band in the DMV along with her Bela Dona band mates. She was also the recipient of the "Bass Boss Lady" award for the Queens of Crank Honors (2025.)
She is currently performing in the DMV area with the award winning All Female Band Bela Dona and she also serves as the bassist for Greater Mount Nebo Church in Bowie, MD. Storm teaches music for after-school enrichment programs in her spare time and she also teaches beginner bass and vocal lessons for children and adults. She has a deep passion to inspire, motivate and empower her audiences by sharing her unique musical journey and spreading positive messages of hope and inspiration.
Her solo project The Storm Nation & Friends serves a blend of R&B, Funk, Soul, Smooth Jazz, Gospel Music and provides live bands for all occasions, corporate events, music festivals, concerts and more. Her performances are passionate and authentic and she shares her unique musical journey to inspire, empower and motivate her audiences.
She is recent graduate from Berklee Online with a degree in Interdisciplinary Music Studies and currently working on her EP.
